The Fairfax Institute (TFI) offers short continuing and lifelong learning courses that enhance the understanding and appreciation of Islamic culture, traditions and laws. The Fairfax Institute is the instructional division of International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

This course will introduce Islamic legal objectives of financial contracts, forbidden transactions in Islamic commercial law, and characterstics and uses of selected Islamic products such as Murabahah, Ijarah, Salam, and Istisnah contracts. It will also touch on key considerations in developing Islamic products such as Islamic credit cards and promissory currency contracts. Also discussed will be Islamic risk management, key liquidity risks for Islamic banks and their treatment, and the basics of Islamic securities.

-IEB1: Islamic Principles of Teaching:
This course will help develop an understanding of teaching and learning in the Islamic tradition, and explore how to benefit from traditional processes of communicating between the teacher and the taught. The course will expound on the role of the teacher and teaching techniques within the context of contemporary culture and Qur’anic and Prophetic views of learning.
This course is for students who are beginners or with very little background in Arabic, It teaches students to read words, phrases and sentences from the first lesson. The focus is on comprehension. It helps students build their vocabulary, which will help them understand the Qur'an and Hadith as early as possible.
