Summer 2008 Daytime Program
The Summer 2008 daytime Program is structured to provide the students with intensive instruction in Arabic language, Islamic studies, directed research in an area of their interest, and administrative work at IIIT. The coursework is divided into two categories: 1) Category A includes: Arabic language, Quran and Sunna, Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic History and Civilization; and 2) Category B includes courses such as Organization and leadership, Strategic Planning, Research Methods, Islamic Financial Systems, Faith-Based Entrepreneurship, Comparative Religion, Islamic Reform Movements and Media Criticism.

Fiqh Al-Muamalat

Dr. Jamal Barzinji taught a course on Fiqh Al-Muamalat (Jurisprudence of Transactions) in the Spring Term. Part of the course is available on tape for review by registered learners.
Dr. Yaqub Mirza taught the course on Faith-based Entrepreneurship in the Winter term.
Teacher Training ProgramTFI will offer training workshops to help teachers improve teaching of Arabic and Math. Please call us if you want to participate in the training wokshops.

Courses at Shenandoah University
TFI's parent organziation IIIT has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Shenandoah University under which TFI will co-teach courses and engage in collaborative instructional programs. The agreement was signed by Dr. Calvin Allen, Jr., Dean of College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginina and Dr. Jamal Barzinji, Vice President of IIIT at a meeting at the IIIT office in Herndon, Virginia on June 13, 2007. One of the first areas of cooperation will be the co-teaching of a Shenandoah University course on Islamic Civilization to be offered in the Spring of 2008.

MOU with Center at Nazareth College
The Fairfax Institute (TFI) at IIIT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialog (CISD) at Nazareth College, Rochester, NY in order to "understand and develop research tools, knowledge and skills to benefit our common humanity."

Non-Profit Management
More effective management of Islam-based community organizations is the theme of the nonprofit mangement fcourse being taught by TFI director Dr. Iqbal Unus in the Spring term. The ten-hour on-line course deals with several essential topics such as strategic planning, program development, evaluation, and leadership. "Based on feedback from those attending this course in the past, we plan to offer it on-line or on-site in the Summer and Fall terms" says Dr.Unus.
